On a chilly and windy day, Saturday, November 4, 2017, sixteen teams gathered at Chesapeake Hills Golf Course for the benefit of SMILE. Not only did they bring canned goods but bought mulligans and played the 50/50 to help SMILE purchase turkeys for their clients for Thanksgiving. It brought in about $1,000.
At 10 am, Chesapeake Hills Golf Course General Manager, Tim Hepler, read the rules to all participants, explaining the special yellow ball, mulligans and closest to the pumpkin. Then it was off to play golf and have some fun.
Around 2 pm, the golfers were coming in, having played 18 holes and needed nourishment. And they would not be disappointed. The Chesapeake Hills Golf Course staff had prepared a turkey dinner fit for a king. The buffet style lunch consisted of roast turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy, green bean casserole, rolls and butter, and for dessert Sweet Potato Pie and Pumpkin Pie.
