On June 4, 2021, the American Legion Post 274 held its annual fundraising golf tournament at Chesapeake Hills Golf Course, in Lusby. There were approximately 140 golfers in attendance with 40 volunteers at the fundraiser. While they were signing up, the participants were able to purchase mulligans, a favorite among those golfers who need a little incentive.
The organizers of the tournament, Jon and Joyce Baki, wanted to thank Bayside Chevrolet for sponsoring the “hole in one “and all the others who sponsored signs on the course, auction items, and prizes. Lunch was provided by the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 274, which consisted of a box lunch of roast beef on a roll, potato salad and Cole slaw. During the meal, some extra entertainment was provided with tee heavens opening up and tremendous downpours and gusty winds caused some in the tent closing the side curtains.
Following the meal, the winners were announced but unfortunately if you were not at one of the front tables, it was impossible to hear the names. We were able to get the winners of the tournament but the others such as closest to the pin were not provided to us by press time.
The tournament winners with their scores were:
1st Place – J. Brown, V. Sylvester, C. Fink, S. Borgolthas, score of 51
2nd Place – I. Umphyrey, R. Umphrey, M. Lemieux, A. Sinagra, score of 54
3rd Place – R. East, M. Fromhart, B. Marks, B. Lynam – score of 56
A big thank you to Lisa Lundgren for being y designated driver in order to get all the pictures, and Alice London who played security so I wouldn’t be attacked for taking the pictures!
