The Interagency for Families and Children, United Way of Calvert County’s Success By 6, the Calvert County Early Childhood Advisory Council, as well as other local organizations, are celebrating the Month of the Young Child, in conjunction with the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), during April.
NAEYC is a large nonprofit association in the United States representing early childhood education teachers, para-educators, center directors, trainers, college educators, families of young children, policy makers, and advocates. NAEYC has been around since the 1920’s and is focused on improving the well-being of young children, with particular emphasis on the quality of educational and developmental services for children from birth through age 8.
The future of our community and State depends upon the quality of early childhood experiences provided to our youngest citizens and high
quality, early childhood services represents a worthy commitment to their future.
The Calvert Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) proclaimed that the month of April be known as the Month of the Young Child in Calvert County. The BOCC commended all the organizations for providing their superior initiative, leadership ability, support and commitment for their daily contributions to the children in our communities.
