Circle Weaving

Come weave with instructor Erica Daley! Use scraps of fabric, yarn, and ribbon to create circular art that can be used for many different things, such as wall hangings, coasters, potholders, pillows, and more. Participants will be able to choose what they would like to make with their own circles and the instructor will provide many examples for inspiration and ideas. Class is offered on March 7, from 10am to 1pm with a cost of $35; members $30. There is a $20 to $40 materials fee due at the start of class. Materials fee ranges based upon the fabrics and fibers chosen from the instructor’s supply, but feel free to bring your own unique yarns, ribbons, and fabric scraps as well. Celtic Star Pendant

Learn from instructor Jerry Garnsey, how to weave a Celtic star pendant from metal wire using the ancient art of chainmaille. Chainmaille is the process of weaving together individual metal rings to create metal designs and mesh-like patterns. No experience is necessary—kit includes everything needed to create one pendant. Class is offered on March 7, from 2 to 4:30pm. The cost is $40; members $35, plus a $15 materials fee due at the start of class. Intro to Zentangle: Meditative Drawing

Let’s explore Zentangle—a meditative drawing style using structured patterns in a mindful and relaxing way to kindle creativity, build self-confidence, and create beautiful artwork. Learn the basics from instructor Jill Smithson in the morning workshop, then continue building your skills in the afternoon session! A materials fee of $5 provides everything you need to get started. ZIA: Zentangle Inspired Art

Explore the next level of Zentangle with instructor Jill Smithson!  Expand your foundation skills and learn to let them flow into your art. We will focus on free-flowing, challenging, and naturally occurring elemental patterns, adding them to our foundational palette to create pieces known as ZIAs. Some Zentangle experience is required. Materials fee is $10, or $5 for those participating in the morning intro class. Take the AM and PM classes together and save $5 off tuition fee! Class is offered March 8, from 1 to 3pm with a cost of $30; members $25, plus $10 materials fee. Girls’ Night out: Wine & Dish! Woven Platters or Baskets

Grab your favorite beverage and join instructor Sarah Houde for a fun night out as students use clay slabs to create woven clay platters or baskets perfect for holding fruit, bread, or decorative items. Sign up with a friend and make it a true girls’ night out! This is a 2-class series, offered on March 9 & 23, from 6:30 to 9:30pm both nights. Students must be at least 21 years old. Intro to Glass Bead-Making

Explore with instructor Robyn Strayer, the art of making glass beads using a Hot Head torch and Moretti glass rods. Students learn studio safety as well as glass rods on mandrel bead techniques. Each student will make several beads of various shapes and surface decorations including stringer use and application. This is a 3-class series offered on March 9, 16, and 23, from 6 to 8pm (last class runs 6 to 9pm). The cost is $125; members $110, and all materials are provided. A Touch of Glass

Join instructor Robyn Strayer and get to know our glass studio as well as the basics of glass bead-making.  Students will be introduced to studio safety and techniques in glass bead-making.  Everyone will walk away with a few beads and the inspiration to continue in the exciting world of glass art! Class is offered March 15, from 1 to 4pm with a cost of $55; members $50, all materials provided. Fabulous Florals in Watercolor

Learn tips and techniques from instructor Nancy Thompson, about how to make strong, vibrant floral paintings. Use clean color, rich values, and great composition to create dynamic artwork. This class is for all levels of experience-beginners welcome! It is a 2-class series, beginning on March 17 with the second class on March 18, from 10am to 3:30pm.  Crazy for Cats: Exploring Felines in Terracotta

Spend a day with artist Parran Collery, sharing in her fascination with felines! Students will spend the day using clay to make several cat tiles and small sculptures. This will be a fast paced and fun day full of whimsy. Class is offered on March 21, from 10am to 3:30pm. The class fee is $80; members $75, plus there is a $15 materials fee due at the start of class. Intro to Stained Glass – March Session

Learn the fundamentals behind stained glass art from instructor Leza Hepler, as students explore the copper foil technique. Learn to cut, shape and grind glass, as well as foiling and soldering techniques to make a small sun-catcher for your window. All materials included. Class is offered on March 21, from 10am to 2pm. Stained Glass: Next Steps – Spring Series

Continue refining your stained glass skills with instructor Leza Hepler, in this 5-class series. Choose from a broad variety of projects and create a 20 to 30 piece sun catcher panel, using the copper foil technique. Must take the Intro to Stained Glass class first. This series is great to take again and again-just choose a different project each time! Materials list provided, but glass will also be available for purchase in class. Class begins on March 25 with additional classes held April 1, 8, 15, and 22, from 6 to 9pm each night. The cost is $195; members $180, and all materials are provided. Itchin’ to Scratch: Into to Scratchboard – Winter Session

Sometimes called “the art of taking away,” scratchboard is a medium that allows for amazing detail. In this class, students will learn the basic techniques for working on scratchboard from instructor Carmelo Ciancio.  Learn to use knives or other abrasives to remove the black ink and reveal the white surface. Also learn how to achieve textures and subtle details in your work. This 2-class series is offered on March 27 and 28, from 11am to 3:00pm both days. Kids Classes

Homeschool Clay Series: Slab Lanterns, Ages 8-14

Join AMG staff in a fun and informative new series! Come learn popular hand-building techniques with clay as students create colorfully fun projects, keepsakes, and everyday items. In this class, students will learn to roll slabs with textures and use them to create lovely lanterns. Learn decorative techniques and use various tools or underglazes to add personality to their creations. All projects will be ready for pickup 2 to 3 weeks after class. Students will be called or emailed when ready for pickup. Class is held on March 25, from 1:00 to 3:30pm. Class costs $40 for the first student with a sibling fee of $15 each, members: $35 for the first student with a sibling fee of $15 each. Play in Clay: Dazzling Dragons

Learn basic hand-building techniques to make a fantastical wizard, fairy, or dragon for your room. Learn to use slabs and coils from instructor Sarah Houde. Add beautiful glazes to give your work added color and shine. A great way to spend quality time with that special kid in your life! Ages 6 and older; Children younger than 10 must be accompanied by an adult. Class is offered on March 28, from 1:00 to 4:00pm. Cost: $50 for individuals; $75 for adult/child couples, member: $45 for individual or $65 for adult/child couples. School’s Out: Solar Art (Spring Break)

Grab your sunglasses and get ready to learn about our favorite star, the sun! Let’s learn fun facts, explore solar power, and make beautiful sun catchers, sun prints, and more! Dress for a mess, pack a lunch and get ready for some fun with the sun! There are two age groups, K-2nd or 3rd-5th. Class is offered March 30, from 9:00am to 3:00pm. Cost is $45; members $40. School’s Out: Lunar Art (Spring Break)

Get ready to land on the moon as we explore fun facts and true stories about Earth’s only satellite! Let’s build props and recreate our won mission to the moon. Who knows, we might even learn to moonwalk! Dress for a mess, pack a lunch, and get ready for a space adventure! There are two age groups, K-2nd or 3rd-5th.
