After a stunning loss to the Skeeters the previous night in extra innings, the Blue Crabs return the favor Saturday, July 4 by winning in walk off fashion in the tenth by the final of 4-3.
Southern Maryland struck first with two runs in the bottom of the first. Casey Stevenson doubled with one out. The next hitter Zach Wilson banged a triple off the wall in left for an RBI triple to score Stevenson to make it 1-0. Two batters later, Gustavo Molina singled to score Wilson to make it 2-0.
Fast forward to the top of the ninth, the Skeeters down 2-1 were looking to tie the game. Joe Benson led things off with a single. Two batters later Kevin Russo singled to put runners at the corners. With the tying run 90 feet away, Chris Wallace came to the plate and singled to score Benson to tie the game at 2-2. Johan Limonta came off the bench in a pinch hit situation, and he lashed a singled to center to score Russo to give the Skeeters the 3-2 lead.
In the bottom of the ninth, Southern Maryland tied the game as the second baseman Ryan Adams committed a throwing error allowing Jamar Walton to score.
John Lujan came on to pitch for the Skeeters. After Zach Wilson, and Daryle Ward each flied out, Gustavo Molina singled to left. Jake Opitz lined a single to right to put runners at first and third. Jamar Walton was intentionally walked to load the bases. Casey Frawley, who came into the ballgame having hit safely in 13 of his last 15 games looped a single to right center to score the game winning run, Molina from third to give the Blue Crabs the 4-3 victory.
Game three of the series Sunday will begin at 2:05 p.m.
