On Tuesday, April 12, 2016, the Calvert Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) proclaimed the month of April as Month of the Young Child. The Interagency Council for Families and Children, the Success by 6 initiative of the United Way of Calvert County and other local organizations, in conjunction with the National Association for the Education of Young Children will be celebrating the month of April.
The future of our State and communities depend upon the quality of early childhood experiences provided to our youngsters. The commitment to high-quality, early childhood services should be available to all children and their families in our County. By calling attention to this need, these groups hope to improve and expand the availability to all. Research and experience show that the earliest years of our children are the crucial learning years. Local celebrations during Month of the Young Child are designed to build broader support for childhood programs.
