Please visit our March show to welcome Suzanne Nawrot, Larry Ringgold and Carol Wade to the CalvART Gallery in Prince Frederick: Something for everyone: a jeweler, a sculptor and a painter Artists’ Reception, Saturday, March 14, 2015, 5 – 8 pm.
Suzanne Nawrot creates wearable art in various mediums using a variety of techniques and materials including beads, epoxy clay; Kumihimo, an ancient form of Japanese braiding, with and without beads; and most recently, wire wrapping semi precious stones and glass with precious metals. Her jewelry is luminous and elegant. Larry Ringgold has taken up the profession of beachcombing and sculpts beautiful art with his driftwood findings. His whimsical forms are at once playful and forceful. From his found wood, he fashions everything from animals and sea creatures (including mermaids) to birds and more. Carol Wade is an established artist in Southern Maryland. To compose her lovely paintings, she often includes other found objects like music sheets or photos she places in the work or interprets. She draws upon her surroundings and musings to add interest and depth to her work that invite a long visit with her paintings.
