On Tuesday, May 24, 2016, Carmen’s Gallery celebrated 35 years in business. Carmen Lee Nance Gambrill grew up in North Carolina, graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill and later received a graduate degree from Boston University. She studied painting at the Art league School at the Torpedo Factory in Arlington, Virginia, as well as other workshops from Sicily to Santa Fe to Solomons Island. Carmen resides in Solomons Island and New Orleans, Louisiana, with her husband Matt. She has a number of rescue animals, mainly cats.
“Painting is something that I started late in life but it seems I have been working toward it for many years. As a gallery owner and a frame designer for 33 years, my sense of color and design was honed by the time I picked up a paint brush 3 years ago.
Carmen’s Gallery cut the ribbon with the Calvert Chamber of Commerce at their Solomons Island location. Please come by 14550 Solomons Island Road and check out their collections of jewelry, paintings, pottery, sculpture and clothing for sale. Everything is handmade. They offer painting workshops and you can buy a painting and have them custom frame it for you.
Please check out the photo gallery below of the ribbon cutting.
