CCPS Competes in SkillsUSA Championships

CCPSForty eight students from Calvert County Public Schools who are enrolled in Career and Technology Education programs recently competed in 25 different SkillsUSA state championship competitions.  These competitions allow students to demonstrate skills that they have developed related to their particular programs.

The following students received bronze medals by placing third in their respective competitions: Jason Harris – Fire Fighting Angela Belisario – Nurse Assisting Joseph Phifer – Welding Anna Henson – Power Equipment Technology Lilly Lane—Customer Service. The following students received silver medals by placing second in their respective events: Megan Horsmon – Commercial Baking Josh Claggett – Criminal Justice Myranda Shymansky – First Aid Ashley Steele – Pin Design Harmony Mansfield – Dye Sublimation. The following students qualified for a trip to the National Skills Championships by winning a gold medal: Rachel Harrison – Health Occupations Portfolio Tyler Berberian – Criminal Justice Anthony Lettner – Technical Drafting Eric Pope – Power Equipment Technology.

Also, Leann Fung was elected as a Maryland SkillsUSA state officer.  She will serve as the state parliamentarian.
