April 25, 2015 will mark the 37th year for the oldest Celtic celebration in Maryland. Chosen in 2000 by Congressman Steny Hoyer to represent Southern Maryland in the national “Local Legacy” project of the Library of Congress’ bicentennial celebration, the Southern Maryland Celtic Festival and Highland Gathering highlights the heritage of the Breton, Cornish, Irish, Manx, Scots, and Welsh.

We are super excited about our performance lineup for the 2015 Southern Maryland Celtic Festival at Jefferson-Patterson Park & Museum on Saturday, April 25th. For the full schedule go to www.cssm.org
The lineup for our Glenn and Pub stages includes:
The Gothard Sisters – a dynamic all-female Irish music and dance group from the Pacific Northwest, USA. The three girls, Greta, Willow, and Solana (who are truly sisters!) perform and record new Celtic arrangements of well-known traditional tunes and songs, as well as their own original compositions from their 6 recorded studio albums.
FIREWIRE – Coming from Great Britain, Máire Ní Chathasaigh and Chris Newman combine virtuosic harp and guitar for a delightful and inspiring Celtic music experience: “A gorgeously coherent entity comprised of elegantly plucked and strummed strings.” – HOT PRESS, 30 May, 2007
Hanneke Cassel – “…[one of] the hottest young fiddlers in Boston…Cassel bases her robust, pulsing style on Scottish and Cape Breton strains.” -Boston Globe
The Time Shifters – The Time Shifters play music that links their deep roots in traditional American and Scottish music with the present day and beyond. The “Shifters” sound mixes the old with the new: from ancient Scottish melodies and songs, red hot fiddle and banjo playing, great singing and harmonies and a whole lot of FUN!
La Unica – From our Nation’s capital region – – A “pan-genre party band…fusing roots music ranging from Irish folk to Latin rhythms.” La Unica reigns supreme in delivering “melting pot grooves.” – Washington Post. This is a seriously fun band that you must see live.
These stages will also feature veteran performers, brought back to you by popular demand:
Maggie Samsone, Pyrates Royale, Darcy Nair, and our own, locally grown in Southern Maryland – David Norris and Lauren Brenzo.
