The Calvert County Department of Parks & Recreation announces the Chesapeake Hills Golf Course is closed until further notice due a burst water pipe. The frigid temperatures that followed Winter Storm Grayson last Thursday caused at least one pipe in the ceiling of the clubhouse to break in three places resulting in a flood throughout the clubhouse.
“We are still in the process of assessing the damage,” said Department of Parks & Recreation Director Shannon Nazzal. “Unfortunately due to the age of the building, our mitigation measures to avoid this type of damage were no match for the constant wind and plummeting temperatures.”
According to Nazzal, the Calvert County Department of General Services is on location to begin the arduous job of ripping out dry wall, inspecting electrical network and addressing significant water damage throughout the clubhouse, including the pro shop and the Grille Room.
The Department of Parks & Recreation will notify the public when repairs are finished and the course is able to reopen. The Chesapeake Hills Golf Course is Calvert County’s premier public golf course. Located at 11352 HG Trueman Road in scenic Lusby, Maryland, it is just minutes from historic Solomons Island.
