On Saturday morning, June 13, the Christmas in April*Calvert County program was under way at a home in the Chesapeake Ranch Estates. The home was owned by a veteran. The group working on it were members of the NJROTC from Patuxent High School. Twelve cadets with Sergeant Treiber, and employees from Exelon were working hard to finish before the weather got any hotter or more humid.
Rebecca Banker “I love that we’re able to give something back to a Veteran” and Kendahl Urness “I’m so proud of the work we accomplished” as they completed painting the outside of the home and landscaping the yard.
Nathan Banker “It was hard work but fun” while Jamie Decker said “we finally saw first sergeant work”.
Exelon employee, Steve Sanders, said that the NJROTC students were great to work with on this project. They were here at 7 am and have worked hard. By 10 am the exterior of the house was painted and the cadets were finishing painting the porch. Several cadets were prepping the shrub beds for new mulch.
The owner said he was very pleased about how great his home and yard looked. He also remarked how thankful he was for the Christmas in April program that sent these students and adults to his home.
