Friday, July 1 – First Free Friday
5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. The Museum and Drum Point Lighthouse are open and free to the public with complimentary 30-minute cruises aboard the Wm. B. Tennison. Enjoy the Navy Band Country Current at the PNC Waterside Pavilion starting at 6:00 p.m.
Monday, July 4 – Fireworks Cruise
8:00 p.m. till……Come aboard the Wm. B. Tennison for the best view in town. Bring your own picnic basket if you like with your favorite food and libations. $30 per person; for ages 7 and up only. Preregistration required. Call 410-326-2042 ext. 41.
Tuesday, July 12, Thursday, July 14, and Wednesday, July 20 – Sea Squirts
10:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. Messy Day: Fireworks! theme. Ready. Set. Paint! Join us for a fun and messy time of finger painting your own fireworks creation. Free drop-in program for children 18-months to 3 years and their caregivers.
Saturday, July 9 – SHARKFEST!
10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Visit live sharks and Chesapeake Bay native Atlantic sturgeon featured in the Corbin Pavilion. Participate in hands-on activities throughout the museum, paint a shark mural, do shark crafts, get your face painted ($5 fee), play in the Shark Game Show and win a prize, and take your picture in the jaws of a Megalodon shark. Slide down the jaws of a giant inflated shark sponsored by Tidewater Dental. Food vendors will be on-site. Museum admission applies; members are free.
Thursday, July 14 – Pub Night
7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Bring your friends and enjoy an evening of sea chanteys, nautical theme songs, and hearty cheer. Beer and wine available for sale. Free event.
Saturday, July 16 – Fossil Field Experience
9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Go to a local beach and explore the fossils of Calvert Cliffs with a trained educator. Get a special tour of the fossil hall. For ages 8 and up. Pre-registration required, $20, includes museum admission. Space is limited. Call 410-326-2042 ext. 41.
Saturday, July 16 – Lore Oyster House Day
1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. Stop by the J.C. Lore Oyster House in Solomons for on-going activities both in the oyster house and out on the dock. Costumed interpreters will be on site. Try your hand at oyster tonging; learn to tie a towline and coil a rope; measure oysters and follow the path an oyster takes through the processing house from the loading dock to the shipping room. Tie on an apron and become a shucker, or take on the role of the skimmer and decide how many pints have been shucked and what the shuckers should be paid. Learn oyster anatomy and see the museum’s giant soft sculpture oyster, Rock-E-Feller. Free event.
Saturday, July 23 – Lighthouse Adventure Cruise: Southern Bay
7:45 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Participants will see six lighthouses as they cruise aboard a private charter boat with the museum’s lighthouse expert. The cost is $130; $120 for members. Registration required at least 5 business days in advance. Call 410-326-2042 ext. 41 to register.
Saturday, July 23 – Dee of St. Mary’s Public Sail
2:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. Sail on board the Dee and experience the Patuxent River like never before! The boat leaves from the museum dock. Fee is $25 for ages 12 and up, $15 for children 8 – 12. No children under 8 please. Preregistration required, call 410-326-2042 ext. 41 to register.

Friday, July 29 – Paleo Day Camp for Middle Schoolers
9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Students entering 6th – 8th grade are invited to become a paleontologist for a day. Discover the world of the Miocene epoch, long before humans inhabited the planet with this unique opportunity for young people to experience science by digging in and discovering answers for themselves.
This action-filled day includes learning to find and identify fossils at Cove Point beach, a behind the scenes visit to the museum’s fossil prep lab, a chance to see our 3-D printer re-creating a Megalodon tooth, and a visit to our amazing behind-the-scenes fossil collections. Campers will play Fossil Monopoly to learn just how challenging it is to become a fossil, and explore some of the problems paleontologists face in their work. Snacks and water provided; campers bring their own lunch. Fee is $25. Pre-requisition required. Call 410-326-2042 ext. 41.

Stroll back to the 80’s for an evening of memories with Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter, and musician Rick Springfield. Opening the show is Night Ranger and The Romantics.
