CMM’s List of Fun Things To Do In June

CMM museumSchool’s almost out so put CMM is at the top of your list of fun things to do this summer! Programs and activities are planned for all members of the family. Visit the website at www.calvertmarinemuseum.com for a complete listing of events.

Friday, June 5 – First Free Friday

5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. The museum and Drum Point Lighthouse are open and free to the public with docents in each gallery. Enjoy music by GeeZers in the Harms Gallery starting at 6:00 p.m.; FREE 30-minute Tennison cruises.

Saturday, June 6 – Sunset Supper History CruiseSupper cruise

6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Dr. Ralph Eshelman, noted historian, will talk participants through time along the Patuxent River highlighting events that range from paleo-Indians to World War II.  Light supper by Lotus Kitchen included. Cost is $60 per person. Preregistration required; call 410-326-2042 ext. 41. Seating is limited. (Only offered twice this summer and again on September 12!)

 

Sea SquirtsTuesday, June 9 and Thursday, June 11 and Wednesday, June 17

Sea Squirts: Wet, Mucky Marsh Now offered twice 10:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. The marsh is full of surprises. Come discover them! Free drop-in program for children 18-months to three years and their caregivers.

 

Saturday, June 20 – Fossil Field Experiencefossil field experience

9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Come explore the fossils of Calvert Cliffs with a trained museum educator. For ages 8 and up. Cost is $20 and includes admission to the museum. Space is limited; preregistration required. Call 410-326-2042 ext. 41.

 

ligththouse adventureSaturday, June 20 – Lighthouse Adventure Cruise: Northern Bay

Participants will see six lighthouses as they cruise aboard a private charter boat. The cost is $130; $120 for members. Registration required at least 5 business days in advance. Call 410-326-2042 ext. 41.

 

Sunday, June 21 – Father’s Day Brunch CruiseFather's Day brunch on Tennison

11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Treat Dad to brunch on the water aboard the Wm. B. Tennison. Adults $25, children 12 and under $15. Preregistration required; call 410-326-2042, ext. 41 or email mccormmj@co.cal.md.us.

Sunday, June 21 – Father’s Day Evening Cruise

5:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. A cruise on the Patuxent is the perfect ending to Dad’s special day. Heavy hors d’ oeuvres served aboard the Wm. B. Tennison. Preregistration required; call 410-326-2042 ext. 41 or email mccormmj@co.cal.md.us.

 

Little MinnowsThursday, June 25 – Little Minnows

10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Olly Oyster Although oysters don’t move, they help clean the water.  Come learn just how helpful these animals can be. For children ages 3 to 5 years. Members are free; $5 for non-members.

 

Saturday, June 27 – Dee of St. Mary’s Public Sailsunset sail on Dee

2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. Sail aboard the skipjack Dee of St. Mary’s leaving from the museum dock. Fee is $25 for ages 13 and up, $15 for children 8 – 12. No children under 8 please. Preregistration required, call 410-326-2042 ext. 41 to register.
