Please Join Us Saturday Morning to Learn About the LWV
Have you ever wondered what the League of Women Voters – or LWV – does and what that means for you and our community? Please join us from 10:00 a.m. to noon this Saturday at Calvert Library Prince Frederick to learn more. The first 15 minutes will include refreshments and a time to network with LWV members.
The LWV is nonpartisan. Everyone is welcome – whether you’re a Democrat, Republican, Green, or Libertarian party member, or see yourself as an Independent or someone who is still figuring things out. Anyone age 16 or older can register to vote and join the LWV. Students and families are very welcome. And men as well as women are full LWV members.
Saturday, you’ll learn about the LWV’s history, priorities, current projects, and events. Upcoming Candidate Forums will help you cast an informed vote in the November 6 general election – October 4 for local candidates, including County Commissioners, and October 11 for state candidates. Another focus is what we call transparency in government, which means keeping an eye on our local government to make sure we, as citizens, know what’s going on and have a say in what happens next. The LWV is also involved with ensuring a safe environment and a clean Bay.
To learn more and meet neighbors who also want the best for Calvert County, please join us Saturday. If you want, you can join the LWV on the spot or go to our website, www.lwvcalvert.org. Yearly (July-June) dues are $50 for individuals and $70 for families.
October 16th is your last day to register to vote. If you aren’t already registered, be sure to do so right away, either online or at our local Election Board at 30 Duke Street in Prince Frederick.
We hope to see you Saturday!
