Commander Metzler of the St Mary’s County DAV Chapter #26 has helped hundreds of veterans get through the paperwork needed as they are discharged from serving our country. Mr. Metzler is an Army Veteran from the Vietnam War era who has been living in his home for 27 years with his wife, children and dogs.
Recently Mr. Metzler needed a little helping hand himself; due to a medical issue that left him with the need for a ramp, which would enable him to enter/exit his home. An employee and a volunteer of Patuxent Habitat saw a Facebook posting that told of Mr. Meltzer’s’ need for a ramp ASAP.
Mr. Metzler met the qualifications for the Patuxent Habitat for Humanity Veterans Critical Repair Program and with the help of the PAX NAS CPOA volunteers the ramp was started on the coldest Thursday to date, and finished Friday and Saturday as the snow was falling!
