The Employee Recognition Committee (ERC) was created on January 1, 1982, to publicly recognize County employees with awards such as Employee of the Month.
The Employee of the Month award acknowledges individual excellence for superior job performance and/or special individual efforts above and beyond the employee’s regular job duties. The categories for recognition are quality of work, respect of fellow employees, effectiveness of public contact, contributions toward improving organizational morale, quantity of work, and/or actions that improve the public image of county government.
The ERC is pleased to announce that Stanley Harris, Communications Assistant Chief, Emergency Communications, was selected as the September 2020 Employee of the Month. This special award was presented on Tuesday, September 29, 2020,
Stanley oversees one of the most critical and stressful divisions in the county. Emergency Communications, also referred to as the Control Center or 9-1-1 dispatch, handles all the county’s emergency calls. Stanley consistently tries new ideas to promote positive morale within this division and retain these critically important personnel. Stanley is also at the forefront of the new 800 Mhz radio system upgrade.
Additionally, since the COVID-19 outbreak, Stanley has taken on the role of Emergency Operations Command Commander and covers both of these positions while still finding time to assist others. He moves seamlessly between these roles, often answering two phones at once. Stanley is always courteous when interacting with employees, vendors, other agencies, or the public. Calvert County is fortunate to have Stanley in his current position and to have him at the helm during this global pandemic.
