Conference on Human Trafficking Host by FBI Child Exploitation Task Force

2022-04-29

State’s Attorney Robert H. Harvey, Jr.

On Thursday, April 28, 2022, Calvert County State’s Attorney Robert Harvey, three of his Assistant State’s Attorneys, and a victim/witness advocate attended a conference on human trafficking.

The conference was hosted by the FBI Child Exploitation Task Force, which operates in Maryland and Delaware.  A lot of valuable information was presented leading to the conclusion that human trafficking and child exploitation is more prevalent than one would assume.  Undoubtedly, it exists in Southern Maryland.

The Calvert County State’s Attorney’s Office intends to direct additional resources to this problem, to include developing a presentation for hotel and other hospitality industry employees to enable them to detect and report instances of human trafficking.
