Nurse Practitioner Carol Boehm
Calvert Physician Associates (CPA) is pleased to welcome two new primary care providers – board-certified family medicine physician Dr. I. Monet Ouwinga to Calvert Primary Care at Dunkirk and Carol Boehm, board-certified family nurse practitioner to Calvert Primary Care at Solomons.
They provide personalized health care for the whole family including health screenings, preventive medicine, complete physicals, well baby checks, immunizations and annual gynecological exams.
“We are pleased to have Dr. Ouwinga join us,” said CPA Executive Director Teresa Baran. “She is an experienced physician with an easy-going style that I am sure our patients in the community will appreciate.”
Dr. Ouwinga, who is fellowship trained in maternal and child health, most recently served as Hospitalist at Northwest Hospital in Randallstown, MD, specifically admitting and consulting on surgical patients.
“I enjoy getting to know my patients and their families on a more personal level,” said Dr. Ouwinga. “That is why I chose family medicine.”
She went on to add, “I believe in partnering with my patients and their family members to develop personalized treatment plans and lifestyle changes to optimize their health and well-being.”
Boehm, who has over 40 years of nursing experience, received her master’s in nursing at The Catholic University of America in

Washington, DC and went on to complete her nurse practitioner training there, as well. She brings with her a wealth of knowledge and skill in family practice as well as emergency, urgent and acute care.
“I love being a nurse practitioner,” said Boehm, “because I get to find out who my patients really are. Who is in the family, what do they do for work, do they have pets, a garden? When it comes to health, it’s all connected, so the more I know about the whole person, the better treatment I can provide.”
