Given the recent challenges facing the State and our Nation, the Maryland Department of Commerce is working to provide comprehensive information to the Maryland Small Business Community.
The Governor of Maryland has already declared a State of Emergency and issued an Executive Order which does the following:
- Requires the closure of bars, restaurants, movie theaters, and gyms effective at 5 p.m. on March 16. With the length of this closure to remain in place until the State of Emergency is lifted.
- Bans all gatherings of more than 50 people. This includes social, community, religious, recreation, and sporting events.
- Allows carryout, delivery, and drive through operations to remain open.
In the coming days, as the situation remains fluid, we may see more action to try and prevent the spread of this disease. Should further steps be necessary, the email below contains information, resources, and frequently asked questions that may assist your business in planning and adapting.
Additionally, the NFIB has published resources for small businesses in response to the Coronavirus pandemic. It includes links to CDC guidance and SBA loan resources. You can find this information in the following link: http://www.NFIB.com/Coronavirus
As always, please remain safe and take all necessary precautions to protect yourself and others.
Yours in service,
Delegate Mark N. Fisher
