Breaking ground at Patuxent Business Park (PBP) in July, 2016, Dominion Cove Point let those who attended know they were happy to be the first ones to build there. Mike Frederick, Vice President LNG Operations, told the crowd that it was an excellent location for the new warehouse and office space, and that it met the needs with easy access to Route 4. It will also strengthen Dominion’s ties with the Southern Maryland community.
The lot is 8.3 acres, and it will have 42,000 sq feet of warehouse space and 10,000 sq feet of offices and meeting and conference rooms when completed. It will also house an outdoor equipment storage area and a helicopter pad for Cove Point Operations. The approximate $9 million project is on schedule for completion in the later part of 2016.
From the mounds of dirt in July, three months later there is a building framework showing what the building will look like when finished. Work on the site is progressing on schedule. Since the park now has its first business, hopefully more businesses will take advantage and build there too.
Patuxent Business Park is a 92-acre business campus designed to accommodate a variety of uses including Class A office and flex space. The park was created in 2002 through a partnership with the Maryland Department of Commerce, the Maryland Economic Development Corporation (MEDCO) and the Calvert County Board of County Commissioners.
