Earth-Week A full list of events is on the online calendar. Registration is at www.calvertparks.org or follow the instructions in the left hand column.  Except where noted, programs are free for Calvert Nature Society members; nonmembers pay $8 per family. Reservations are required.

Spring Wildflowers

Thursday, April 23, 1-4 pm

Flag Ponds Nature Park

For ages 16 years to adults

Along a lovely 1 mile trail on the cliffs of Calvert overlooking the Chesapeake Bay, a carpet of toothwort, Dutchman’s breeches, saxifrage, and violets lay under paw paw, oaks, viburnums and other trees and shrubs.

Early spring warblers and other birds–Louisiana Waterthrush, Yellow-throated Warbler, Blue Gray Gnatcatcher among others–will provide a musical backdrop.

Barn Swallows  

Saturday, April 25, 10:00 AM-12:00 PM

Ward Farm Nature Park

For families

We will search for swallows at Ward Farm Nature Park and talk about the importance of these birds. Bring a lunch to enjoy while at the park.

Birding

Saturday, April 25, 7:30-9:30 AM

Ward Farm Nature Park

All ages, under 16 with an adult.

Join Master Naturalist Karen Anderson to explore the winter bird life of our new Ward Farm Nature Park in Dunkirk.
