Eastbound Left Lane of the Thomas J. Hatem Memorial Bridge (US 40) will be Closed Temporarily

2021-08-11

The eastbound left lane of the Thomas J. Hatem Memorial Bridge (US 40) will be closed temporarily to traffic. In addition, the westbound left lane approaching the bridge will be closed temporarily to traffic from prior to MD 222 up to the bridge span.

WHEN:    Weather permitting, from Friday, August 20, at 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday, August 23. In the event of inclement weather or other variables, work also may be performed Friday, August 27, at 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday, August 30.

WHY:    Toll Dollars at Work. The closures are part of the Maryland Transportation Authority’s (MDTA) project to reconstruct the toll plaza and roadway to support all-electronic tolling operations for the Hatem Bridge. Crews will be pouring concrete for new median wall.
