2017-10-09

During Calvert County Fair Week, Elvis and Ed Sullivan were together again on Thursday’s Special Needs and Seniors Day. Jim Godbold, the Rockin’ Elvis, was there to entertain as Calvert’s Official Elvis and Ed Sullivan representing the Office on Aging to present the Senior King and Queen and Red Hat Ladies.

While Elvis was singing and serenading the crowd, some took the opportunity to share a dance. The Calvert Career and Technology Academy’s cooking class was busy preparing lunch for the crowd and serving it too. Judging by the reactions of those partaking of the food, it was excellent!

Soon it was time to choose the winners of the Red Hat Ladies. All were invited to take the stage. The attendees were asked to help pick the winners by applauding, as Elvis stood behind each and Ed Sullivan judged the applause. The winners chosen were Terri Justin, Sheila Poole, and Merle Blair.

The three Calvert County Senior Centers, North Beach, Calvert Senior Pines and Southern Pines, sent representatives for Senior King and Queen. They were called to the stage were Ed Sullivan announced the winners, King – Charles Hilgenberg and Queen – Phyllis Ramsey, representing Calvert Pines. The other nominees were Dorisa Jones and Romaine Mayberry for Queen, and Ken Mowbray for King.
