Ennis Honored with Commission’s Award

Celebrating Ella Ennis Calvert Commission for Women recipient of the Outstanding Achievement Service AwardElla Ennis

Delegates Tony O’Donnell and Mark Fisher submitted a nomination letter to the Commission for Women on behalf of Ella Ennis for the 2015 Outstanding Achievement Award for Advocacy. They noted the countless hours of dedication, perseverance and tireless advocacy on behalf of women and girls, and noted that Ella had been a longtime political leader in Calvert and the State and set an example for future women leaders. Ella was instrumental in helping with the protection of our environment through her Governor’s appointment and service on the Maryland State Critical Areas and Coastal Bays Commission.  She was also instrumental in the years-long advocacy necessary to encourage General Assembly passage of a bill called Jessica’s Law.  This law affords additional protections for the children of our state against the scourge of victimization by sexual predators. Ennis continues strong and humble service through the advocacy of the tenets of her faith through her church. Her engagement in the issues affecting her Western Shore’s community are also noteworthy.  Her many acts of charity go unrecognized, as she would have it, but they are there consistently nonetheless.  Her kindness, friendship and mentorship are all well-known here.

On March 14, 2015, Calvert Commission for Women (Wow) honored Ella Ennis with the Outstanding Achievement Service Award.

Ella was presented this award for her Service to the County.  Her endless work with the Central Committee, Campaigns and with her Church were some of the outstanding recognitions she so deserves. There were approximately 50 Republicans that attended the event on behalf of Ella.  All Five County Commissioners, Delegate Anthony O’Donnell, Delegate Mark Fisher and Senator Steve Waugh were all in attendance.  They presented Ella with proclamations.

The celebration was held at the College of Southern Maryland in Prince Frederick. Congratulations Ella!

“Thank you Delegate O’Donnell and Delegate Fisher for nominating me for the Calvert County Commission for Women’s Outstanding Achievement Award for Service”, said Ella Ennis. “I accepted this award on behalf of all of the many volunteers who answered our calls for action for our candidates and for passage of important legislation past and present. I am truly humbled and honored by this award”.  Margit Miller / Calvert Beacon
