John Swartz, Environmental Planning Regulator for the Department of Planning & Zoning, is retiring on April 9, 2021, after dedicating 22 years of faithful and loyal service to the citizens of Calvert County and the State of Maryland.
John’s admirable career with Calvert County Government began on June 2, 1997, as a Planner I in the Department of Planning & Zoning, and left employment for a brief period from January 25, 2005 to August 22, 2005. He was promoted to Planner II on July 6, 2009, to Planner III on June 30, 2014, and lastly to Environmental Planning Regulator on June 25, 2018.
John provided reliable and exemplary service to the citizens of Calvert County, thereby gaining tremendous respect, trust and admiration from Calvert County citizens and fellow colleagues. He displayed his immense devotion to the public by educating and engaging citizens to have a greater understanding of the Critical Area and Floodplain regulations in place to preserve the sensitive environmental features of the county’s landscape. Throughout his tenure, John strived to help County residents save money by meeting all Federal and State regulations when applying for permits as well as helping County residents receive the best rates on flood insurance policies.
The Calvert Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) wished to pay tribute to John’s admirable and commendable career and were delighted to honor this individual with appreciation and gratitude for his dedication to improving the quality of life for the residents and employees of Calvert County.
It was proclaimed by the Calvert Board of County Commissioners that the appreciation of all Calvert County citizens was hereby extended to John Swartz on his Retirement after 22 years of reliable and commendable public service. It was further proclaimed that the Calvert Board of County Commissioners joined the community and John’s co-workers, family, and friends in conveying best wishes for a long, healthy, and happy retirement with continued success in all of his future endeavors.
