Fourth Annual Stars and Stripes Fesitval

2015-05-23

American flagThe Town of Chesapeake Beach is proud to announce the Fourth Annual Stars and Stripes Festival, honoring all who have given their lives in defense of our Country. This year we focus on Korea, The Forgotten War. Festival events are held throughout Chesapeake Beach Stars and Stripes Festival 2015 Memorial Day Weekend.

Saturday, May 23, 2015, the Opening Ceremony at 10:00 am in Veterans’ Memorial Park features a keynote speaker as well as music performed by The Annapolis Naval Academy Brass Quintet. The all new and exciting Stars and Stripes Recreational Baseball Tournament begins at approximately 11:45 on Kellam’s Field. Join us for the National Anthem and then watch a special guest throw out the first pitch of the tournament. There will also be a presentation at 1:00 pm in Town Hall with a video and poster time line of the Korean War.

Sunday, May 24, 2015, Kellam’s Field will be bustling with entertainment for the entire family including food, games, demonstrations, non-profit booths, more baseball and music by the Fabulous Hubcaps.

Monday, May 25, 2015, American Legion Post 206 will conduct a traditional Memorial Day Ceremony in Veterans’ Park at 10:00 am. Kellam’s Field will be the location of the Stars and Stripes Recreational Tournament Championship Game, to be held at 12:00 pm. Everyone is asked to observe the National Moment of Silence at 3:00 pm.

Please take a moment to review the enclosed sponsorship opportunities. We are asking that every caring community member join us in sponsoring this extraordinary event. Your donations make it possible for our families to come together as a community and respectfully remember those who have given their lives for our freedoms. All events are free to the public; donations will also be accepted at the gate during the Sunday Family Day event.

We ask you to show your civic pride by joining us to decorate your home and business prior to the holiday weekend. We want the entire town decorated in red, white and blue in respect of the true meaning of Memorial Day! We will announce and award prizes to the best-decorated homes and businesses during the Family Day on Sunday.

Together we can bring back the true meaning of Memorial Day. Thank you for your support.
