Employee of the Month From Public Safety/Fire-Rescue-EMS Division
The Employee Recognition Committee (ERC) was created on January 1, 1982. One of our primary functions is publicly recognizing County employees for outstanding performance. One way this is achieved is throughthe Employee of the Month Award program.
The Employee of the Month Award acknowledges individual excellence for superior job performance and/or special individual efforts that go above and beyond the employee’s normal job duties. The categories for recognition are quality of work, respect of fellow employees, effectiveness of public contact, contributions toward improving organizational morale, quantity of work, and/or actions that improve public image of county government.
The ERC is pleased to announce that Katherine “Kayti” Gatton, Office Assistant II, Department of Public Safety/Fire-Rescue-EMS Division, was selected as the November 2018 Employee of the Month.
Katherine “Kayti” Gatton is an Office Assistant II for the Public Safety/Fire-Rescue-EMS Division. Kayti Gatton demonstrates exceptional job performance, exceeds expectations, independently tackles complex assignments, familiarizes herself with specialized duties, and continuously expands her knowledge.

Jim Richardson
The Fire-Rescue-EMS Division is responsible for managing numerous programs that support Volunteer Fire-Rescue-EMS operations. Kayti assists with these administrative duties along with handling many general clerical tasks.
When Kayti’s supervisor unexpectedly went on an extended leave of absence, she took the initiative to ensure special projects moved forward, one being the administrative organization required for a new program. Kayti coordinated the details for this time-sensitive project which had to be completed to meet annual County Property Tax billing deadlines. Kayti worked efficiently and effectively to ensure this project, which ultimately provided added benefit for Calvert’s Fire-Rescue-EMS volunteer workforce, was completed in a timely manner.
Kayti was presented a framed certificate and a check by the Calvert Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) as Employee of the Month.
