GivingTuesday is a global generosity movement unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and the world on December 3, 2019 and every day. It was created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. Over the past seven years, this idea has grown into a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.
GivingTuesday was established as a national day of giving on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving. GivingTuesday is a celebration of philanthropy and volunteerism where people give whatever they are able to give. GivingTuesday is a day where citizens work together to share commitments, rally for favorite causes, build a stronger community, and think about other people.
It is fitting and proper on #GivingTuesday and every day to recognize the tremendous impact of philanthropy, volunteerism and community service in Calvert County, Maryland.
The Calvert Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) proclaimed December 3, 2019 be known as #GivingTuesday in Calvert County. It is further proclaimed that all segments of the community, in partnership with the ARC of Southern Maryland, are urged to celebrate their commitment by increasing the capacity to care about one another and their community.
