Five Priorities for the White House to Consider
“Governor Hogan on Thursday also announced a series of further emergency orders. He said the state Department of Transportation will restrict access to BWI-Thurgood Marshall Airport terminal to ticketed passengers and necessary personnel.
Hogan ordered all enclosed shopping malls and entertainment venues to close effective at 5 p.m. On Monday, Hogan ordered bars, restaurants, movie theaters and gyms closed. Since, an increasing number of retail outlets and malls — but not all — began to close on their own. Grocery stores, banks, pharmacies and other essential services remain open.
Hogan also detailed five priorities the nation’s governors plan to bring forward to the President Donald Trump, Vice President Mike Pence and the federal administration. Those recommendations include pushing supplemental funding directly to the states and invoking a federal trigger called Title 32, allowing governors maximum use of the National Guard.
Another desire was pushing back deadlines for the 2020 census and REAL ID requirements. Maryland has already shutdown Maryland Vehicle Administration cites because ‘we don’t want crowding there,’ Hogan said, adding the state wants the federal deadline for REAL ID compliance by Oct. 1 to be paused. He also hopes for better supply of personal protection equipment, coronavirus test kits and ventilators.”
