On Saturday, August 29, 2015, the American Legion in Lusby hosted Hunter’s Heroes 4th Annual Ride for the Cure, funding research, hoping to find a cure for childhood cancers. At 12 noon, all participants gathered in the parking lot of the post for a prayer and then went off in search of the best poker hand.
This year the stops were at the Greene Turtle in Prince Frederick, Seabreeze in Mechanicsville, Toot’s Bar in Hollywood, the Ruddy Duck Brewery & Grill in Dowell and finally the American Legion Post in Lusby for food, door prizes, raffles and such. The after party was kid friendly and had an awesome dee jay, Drew Dobbins.
The food was provided by Cracker Barrel, the Ladies Auxiliary, Peggy Rollins, Nettie McCall, and Kellie Dooley. Chris Bowen provided the auctioneer services. Sponsoring the event were the American Legion Post 274, Tony O’Donnell, American Legion Unit 274 Ladies Auxiliary, Adventure Point, Barrett SeKurity Consulting (BSK), Blazer Enterprises, Captain Smith’s Seafood, CV Carlson, Direct Mail, Dr. Detail – Car Detailing, Dr. Sachs – Dentistry, Dyson Building Center, Edward Jones, Mike Kelly, Guy & Guy Masonry, The Hermitage, Island Queen Charters, John Bohanan, KBE, Old Line Trophy, Phoenix Fire Protection, Simmons HVAC, Solomons Daycare, and Tri County Glass.
Hunter’s Heroes acknowledged 101 riders in the event and raised just over $4,500. Over 150 people joined the after party. They want to thank all who participated, donated prizes, helped set up and clean up the hall and a special thank you to the girls who worked at each stop.
