Public Safety submitted an Assistance to Firefighters grant application to the Department of Homeland Security, Federal Emergency Management Agency on behalf of Huntingtown Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad(HVFDRS). The request was to obtain funding for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). A set of PPE’s (turnout gear) includes: helmet, jacket, bunker pants, boots, and a nomex hood.
The Department of Public Safety received notification from FEMA that the Huntingtown VFDRS grant application was selected for award. The request was for $65,000 with a non-federal fund cost match of $3,095 or 5% of the total Federal contribution of $61,905. The $3,095 match will be funded by the Huntingtown Volunteer Fire Department Rescue Squad.
This funding will be used to obtain 18 Fire Helmets, 16 Fire Coats, 16 Fire Pants, 16 Fire Boots, and 14 Fire Hoods.
On Tuesday, May 21, 2019, the Huntingtown Volunteer Fire Department was invited to the Calvert Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) to receive their federal grant contribution check.
