Session has started and we are off and running. The Democrat controlled legislature started by overriding 5 of Governor Hogan’s vetoes. . Another veto now allows for driving and smoking marijuana and the driver will only receive a civil citation if caught. Yes, I’m still shaking my head in disbelief.
The felon bill has NOT been overrode in the Senate YET! The bill has been special ordered until February5, 2016. So please call your State Senators and let them know how they should vote.
As for the marijuana bill here are links to the votes:
This year I continue my service on the Judiciary Committee. We already had 3 days of hearings on bills ranging from relative’s rights to stolen valor. Our Committee Chair is expecting we will hear 500 bills this session. That is a lot of reading!
Go to the following link to keep up with what is happening in the State Legislature. Here you can look for bills and find out hearing dates. I highly recommend you come and testify on the issue of your choice. The more voices the Delegates and Senators hear the better.
I continue to fight to improve our 2nd Amendment Rights in Maryland. I’ve submitted a Universal Recognition bill to recognize the surrounding states and Washington DC carry permits as valid in Maryland. And a bill to waive the Handgun Qualification License for honorably discharged veterans. I have a few other bills in this arena. I’ll give more details in my next newsletter.
FOR YOUR ATTENTION:
