Legion Post 274 Hosts 17th Annual Golf Fundraiser

2015-06-25

Legion golfOn Friday, June 19, 2015, with the sun shining, men and women gathered at Chesapeake Hills Golf Course to raise funds for Arick L Lore American Legion Post 274. After Tim Hepler and Jon Baki welcomed everyone and explained the rules, Tina Fratantuono sang the National Anthem and it was the usual “start your engines” as teams went to their carts and off to play some golf.

This year there were thirty eight teams registered, the most ever for this tournament. The teams finished the 18 holes by 2:45 pm and were off to the American Legion for a roast beef dinner, door prizes, raffles, 50/50’s, silent auction, auction and the announcement of the winners of the tournament.

Door prizes were amazing and just about everyone who played on a team had a yellow door prize ticket in their goody bag. Joyce Baki called out ticket numbers as the winners rushed forward to select a prize. A bushel of crabs with accoutrements was auctioned off.

Finally the moment everyone was waiting for, the names of the winners of the golf tournament. Tim Hepler was there to do the honors:

1st-Brand Gronert, Dan Liebschutz, Mike Tilton, Dru Superior.

2nd- Tommy Buckler, Dave Spitzer, Bill Miller, DC Wood.

3rd- Billy Poluski, James Brown, Chris Fink, Kevin Jeffries.

Closest to the pin hole #2 James Brown, hole #4 Mark Hensley, hole #13 John Littieford, hole #16 Bill Miller.

Longest drive hole #7 Men’s Tony Reese,- Woman’s- Autumn Wise.

Jon Baki stated it was the best tournament yet and raised substantial money to fund all the projects that the American Legion Post 274 sponsors.
