Thank You for Your Support of the 5th Annual Calvert Hospice Culinary Event!
On behalf of the staff and Board of Directors of Calvert Hospice, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to all those individuals and businesses who helped make our Fifth Annual Culinary Event our most successful ever! We owe much of the evening’s success to Running Hare Vineyard, Elegance by Maryland Country Caterers, and the NightLife Band, and remain deeply indebted to them for their generous contributions of time, money, and spirit over the years. Most importantly, the Culinary Event raised over $63,000 to help us provide specialized programs such as salute ceremonies for our veterans and Camp Phoenix for youth who have lost a loved one. Additionally, these funds help offset the costs of caring for those in our community who lack the financial means to cover their expenses at our Burnett Calvert Hospice House. We never turn anyone away due to a lack of ability to pay, and last year provided financial aid to 45% of our patients at the House.
Numerous individuals, organizations, and businesses deserve recognition for their contributions to the evening. First, we’d like to thank our Hospice Partners, each of whom has made a sustaining and unique commitment to Calvert Hospice and our work: Medart Galleries, Dominion Energy, and Floor Systems. Next, we’d like to recognize our event sponsors: Running Hare Vineyard, Elegance by Maryland Country Caterers, AmFund, Bob Hall LLC, CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield, Jan Kleponis/O’Brien Realty, PNC Bank, Calvert Marina, CalvertHealth, Lee Funeral Home, Gail Siegel/O’Brien Realty, End Hunger, Gerry Van De Velde & Rene Cunningham, Michael & Karen Sharpe, M & T Bank, Lord Calvert Bowl, Tax Depot LLC, Rymer Associates, NAI Michael, Community Bank of the Chesapeake, Jacqueline Morgan Day Spa, Curtis Building Company, Anchor Pharmacy, Marrick Properties, Inc., and Barbara Gardner.
Our thanks also go to those who donated items for our auction and raffle: Mickey Kunkle, Sandra Holler, Ann Crain, Mary Lou Troutman, Pamela Callen, Jeri Kalins, Phyllis Shipley, Colleen Sabo, Mary Blumberg, Bob Gregory, Sylvia Hill, Running Hare Vineyard, Calvert Brewing, Chesapeake Windsail Cruises, AmFund, and Maertens Fine Jewelry & Gifts. CalvART Gallery was once again a tremendous collaborator for our event, and we very much appreciate their continued support. Finally, a special thanks goes to Bill Chambers, our auctioneer; the Explorers from the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office; AAA Transport; Matt Gambrill; and Beth Graeme, our photographer extraordinaire.
The leadership staff and volunteers of Calvert Hospice were the true energy and talent that drove this event and who made it such a memorable evening. They provided hours of much needed support, service, and smiles. As always, the evening was a team effort and we are incredibly thankful to work together in support of a mission we believe in so deeply.
Most importantly, however, we would like to express our appreciation to all those who came out to support us at this event. A unique community of caring was created that evening, thanks to the good will and giving energy of everyone who attended. We remain humbled by your trust in us and grateful to be able to be with those who need us through difficult times. Because of your generous support, we are able to continue to provide care for those with complex illnesses and serve as a vital option for end-of-life care for the residents of Calvert County. Thank you.
