Experience Counts – a lot! Republicans will choose our next State’s Attorney (Calvert County’s equivalent of a District Attorney) in the primary, June 26th, because there will be no Democratic candidate in the November election.
I hope our Republicans will take the time to really compare the records of the two candidates. Only one has decades of experience dealing with all types of cases and she has been the principal prosecutor of our County’s most serious crimes of violence for many years. One is the currently the highest non-elected official in State’s Attorney’s office, with years of management experience, including being the acting State’s Attorney in the absence of the State’s Attorney. The other candidate, not so. One has decades of real service to our county in private life, serving in numerous civic organizations with a focus on children, with demonstrable results.
Careful comparison of the candidate’s web sites and handouts – what they say and don’t say, is informative. As is an understanding of our court and SA office structure (“District Court” is not our court of most serious criminal prosecutions, it is our misdemeanor court and our court of jail able traffic offenses). It is important to compare qualifications! If you do, it will be very clear that Kathryn At Lee Marsh is the best qualified candidate.
