The voters in Calvert County have a difficult decision in voting in this month’s Primary to select a candidate for State’s Attorney. There are two fine professional and experienced attorneys vying for the opportunity to participate in the November General Election. These individuals have earned superb reputations as fair and effective prosecutors during their time on State Attorney Laura Martin’s staff. So how does one choose?
Having given this decision much thought and consideration over the past several weeks, I have decided there is really one candidate that is the most deserving of my vote. From my vantage point of having served as a member of the Calvert Grand Jury during 2017, I had the privilege of witnessing both candidates perform their assignments from a very up close and personal position for six months. Each candidate impressed me with their ability to present the jury with the unvarnished facts and evidence for every case brought before us. Our citizens are very fortunate to have such a terrific group of counselors protecting our rights and ensuring that our laws are properly enforced.
Honestly, the one person who is best qualified and more adequately prepared for this truly important position is Ms. Kathryn Marsh, our current Deputy State’s Attorney and the highest non-elected law official here in Calvert. She comes across as more knowledgeable of the justice system and reflects more confidence in her ability to do this job. A sharp, bright and intelligent lady, she instilled in this observer that her long years and great experience as a prosecutor will serve her well as our new State’s Attorney. SHE IS READY NOW FOR THIS CHALLENGE! Her opponent, while a great counselor himself, just needs a little more seasoning and will make a great future State’s Attorney I am sure.
Additionally, I worked with Ms. Marsh doing volunteer charity work last year and know personally of her desires and willingness to support those less fortunate then herself. She devoted an entire day helping to prepare food for 120+ participants at a Children’s Hospital Benefit held here in Lusby. Her exuberance and willingness to roll up her sleeves and get involved was refreshing. She once more showed a lot of class and joy in her work with us.
There is NO doubt this individual is the best candidate for this important position. She is a proven performer with a distinguished track record in law work. For me and many of my associates and friends, she is most deserving of this consideration. She has earned my vote!
