2014 Toys for Tots Campaign a Success

The 2014 Toys for Tots campaign was a huge success and we have a lot of people to thank.  We would like to thank Toys for Totseveryone who donated toys or money to our campaign as well as all the businesses and organizations who partnered with us as toy collection sites.

We thank the following businesses/community organizations for their generous donations during our 2014 campaign: Calvert County Fair Board, Calvert Self Storage, Dickinson Jewelers, HELP Association, Inc., Marrick Properties, PODS, Sons of the American Legion (Post 206), U-Haul, and Wal-Mart.

We also want to thank the following businesses and organizations that hosted Toys for Tots fundraisers and toy drive events:  Above Average Graphing & Boyce Insurance, American Legion Post 274, Anthony’s Bar & Grill, Calvert Wealth Management, Cub Scout Pack 429, Dickinson Jewelers and The Greene Turtle.

Picking up donations from over 80 sites, sorting toys, setting up our “shopping experience” and helping families select toys, books and stocking stuffers for 1,100 children is a daunting task and could not have been accomplished without the help we received from the following groups and individuals:

The following individuals and groups helped to pick up or sort toys before distribution (and when we say toys, we mean TOYS – over 3,300 of them!):  American Heritage Girls, College of Southern Maryland Honor Society, Huntingtown High School Key Club, Brian and Megan Baker, Carl Ball, John Bilinsky, Shannon Borowski, Kristin Galemore, Gail Gott,  Andrea and Andy Hurley, Pam King, Amy and Leah Lotspeich, Kyle Mansfield, Emma and Trisha Pellegrino, Pam Sands, Tiffany and Gavin Sands and the Bowser, Derenzy, Kennedy, Nice, Peterson, Philpott and Reynolds Families.

Volunteers from the Patuxent High School NJROTC, Patuxent High School Marching Band, Boy Scouts Troop 429 and St. John Vianney Catholic Church’s Men’s Group helped set-up our toy distribution site.

The following individuals and groups assisted us during our toy distributions:

Boy Scouts Troop 429, NJROTC units from Calvert, Huntingtown, Northern and Patuxent High Schools, The Southern Maryland Young Marines, Sheri Blake, Melanie Hungerford, Ray Trigger, David Zwick and the Amisano, Basom, Delamer, Nguyen, and Plutto families.

And lastly, we thank Jake Kepich for bringing Toys for Tots to Calvert County and his continued support of the program.

Toys for Tots of Calvert County is a volunteer run effort and we would not have been able to accomplish a task of this magnitude without community support.  You helped make  Christmas merry for 1,100 children in Calvert County!

Krista and Kurt Brezina,

Toys for Tots of Calvert County
