On December 5, the Leadership Southern Maryland Class (LSM) of 2020 experienced Education in Southern Maryland. The day began at North Point High School where class members were able to tour the school, hear from classroom instructors, and watch students in action in a variety of courses including engineering, collision repair, construction design and management, and cosmetology.
The group then participated in senior portfolio interviews at La Plata High School followed by a trip to St. Charles High School where they took part in a professional development training demonstration. The superintendents from all three Southern Maryland counties were on-hand for a panel discussion and Q&A followed by a conversation with representatives from area colleges about workforce readiness.
The Class of 2020 finished their day with a demonstration of Science on a Sphere and a planetarium show at the James E. Richmond Science Center.
