Veteran Museum Guide to Give 900th Tour
On November 14, local historian and museum guide, Pete Himmelheber, will be giving his 900th tour. Having volunteered at Historic St. Mary’s City for over 20 years, Pete has been an integral part of the museum. On any day he can be found as a museum guide, a historical interpreter, or helping mend the museum landscape fences or various ghost frame structures. Through the years, he has carefully marked each tour given on his tobacco stick that doubles as a walking stick.
Historic St. Mary’s City is a museum of living history and archaeology on the site of Maryland’s first capital in beautiful, tidewater Southern Maryland. For more information about this program or the museum, contact the Visitor Center at 240-895-4990, 800-SMC-1634, or info@HSMCdigsHistory.org.
