On Monday morning, MDTA Police arrested a Baltimore man on I-95 in Baltimore City. The MDTA Police charged the 29-year-old man with possession of a stolen firearm, prohibited person in possession of a handgun, driving a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and other weapon and traffic charges.
At approximately 3:42 a.m., an MDTA Police Officer assigned to the Central Command Detachment stopped to check on a disabled vehicle on the shoulder of northbound I-95 near Exit 54 for Hanover Street. When the officer approached the 2001 Oldsmobile Aurora, he observed the driver asleep behind the wheel with the vehicle still running. While the officer attempted to wake the driver, he smelled the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from the driver and observed a loaded handgun on the driver’s side floorboard. The investigation revealed that the handgun was reported stolen out of Gwinnett County, GA. The driver was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Baltimore Central Booking & Intake Center where he is being held without bail.
