Brian has lived in Calvert County his entire life, graduating from Calvert High School in 2005. Following high school, Brian pursued an associate’s degree from the College of Southern Maryland and a bachelor’s degree in English from University of Maryland University College.
He previously worked for the Calvert County Department of Parks & Recreation for about a year before moving to his current position as an office assistant at Southern Pines Senior Center. Brian found himself inspired by the impact staff were able to make in the lives of seniors and wanted to be a part of something that had such a positive impact. Along with his day-to-day administrative and clerical duties, Brian also finds himself leading certain programs and activities at the senior center, such as Southern Pines’ monthly song circle event.
“We are incredibly active at the senior center,” said Brian. “My job is important because I keep the office at Southern Pines running smoothly and assist senior participants in getting correct information about the center. Arguably the most important reason my job is important, however, is the day-to-day positive impact my fellow staff members and I have on people in our community.”
Along with his love for helping others, Brian is also very passionate about music and playing guitar. He also enjoys walking his eight-year-old Labrador retriever, Leo.
Congratulations, Brian Ward, on a job well done!
