National Correction Officers and Employees Week

2015-05-07

Detention Center EmployeesThe week of May 3-9, 2015 is recognized as National Correction Officers and Employees Week by the U S Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Prisons. The Calvert Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) recognizes the dedication of the many men and women, who serve as Correctional Officers and the employees of the Calvert County Detention Center.

Calvert County has seventy three dedicated Correctional Officers and thirteen professional civilian staff, who have a shared mission of safely and securely housing offenders in their custody.

The BOCC took time to honor the Correctional Officers and civilian staff for their dedication to service and recognized them for their high levels of ethics, morals, and personal conduct, as they serve behind the walls of the local jails and prisons. They also remembered nationally those who lives were sacrificed during their tour of duty, while protecting the citizens.

The Calvert Board of County Commissioners called upon the citizens of Calvert County to pause to remember and pay solemn tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice, their families who supported them, and their fellow employees for their devotion. They also proclaimed the first full week of May be known as National Correctional Officers and Employees Week in Calvert County.
