Northern High School senior Emma O’Kane and junior Alexandra Pinkham, under the leadership of Head Coaches George Weckel and William Marks, won the 2019 Girls’ Doubles Tennis Class 3A State Championship, the first girls doubles state championship since the inception of the tennis team at Northern High School.
In addition, the doubles tandem completed the Tennis Triple Crown, as they were also crowned the Southern Maryland Athletic Conference (SMAC) Girls’ Doubles Champions and the 3A South Regional Girls’ Doubles Champions. They completed the season 21-0 and helped the Northern Patriots to a 9-3 regular season record and a 2nd Place, 3A Regional South team finish.
The youth of Calvert County represent our most treasured resource; the accomplishments, achievements, and abilities of these young citizens deserve the recognition and praise of their elders.
And so the Calvert Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) wished to pay tribute to the dedication, many long hours of practice, fine performances, and accomplishments of Emma O’Kane and Alexandra Pinkham and the Northern Patriots Tennis Team.
Therefore is was proclaimed by the Calvert Board of County Commissioners that sincere congratulations and best wishes for continued success are hereby extended to Emma O’Kane and Alexandra Pinkham on winning the 2019 Girls’ Doubles Tennis Class 3A State Championship. It was further proclaimed that the Calvert Board of County Commissioners joined with the community, fellow students, educators, and many family and friends of Emma and Alexandra in wishing them continued success in all future endeavors.
