Dan Reichert returns for his second season as pitching coach with the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs. Reichert pitched for the Blue Crabs from 2010-2012 before retiring from professional baseball. He was named the “Atlantic League Pitcher of the Year” in 2010 when he tallied 18 wins, 189 innings pitched and 148 strikeouts in 29 starts.
The California native was drafted by the Kansas City Royals as the seventh pick overall in the 1997 amateur draft and made his first MLB appearance for the Royals in 1999 at the age of 23. He spent the next four seasons with the Royals and Toronto Blue Jays.
Before signing as the pitching coach for the Blue Crabs, Reichert assumed a similar role for the independent Lincoln Saltdogs.
