Rescue Dive Team Recognized for Service to Citizens

2017-08-08

The Calvert Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) recognized the Calvert County Rescue Dive Team for their commitment and provision of volunteer fire, rescue and Emergency Medical Service (EMS) to the citizens of Calvert County.

The Calvert County Rescue Dive Team (CCRDT) has proudly served the citizens of Calvert County, Maryland with dedicated service since its inception in 1988. Like all Fire and EMS services in Calvert County, they are a 100% volunteer service of dedicated professionals.

The CCRDT responds to all water rescue calls in Calvert County and are capable of conducting dive rescue and recovery operations, ice rescue, swift water rescue, surface and underwater Class A HAZMAT operations, and high-risk rescue with Personal Watercraft (PWC). In addition to responding to calls within the county, the team also supports Local, State, and Federal governments and charitable organizations in water rescue/recovery operations and public safety.

The Calvert County Rescue Dive Team currently consists of 24 active members. The team is made up:

15 Active Divers (IADRS certified)

10 Surface Ice Rescue Specialists

10 Swiftwater Rescue Technicians

20 PWC Rescue Operators

12 Underwater Hazmat Specialists

The CCRDT is a professional service of dedicated volunteers. The 501(c) (3) non-profit, volunteer organization relies heavily on donations to support our operations. Donations from the public, corporations and private entities help fund vehicles, vessels, equipment and supplies necessary for serving the citizens of Calvert County.

The BOCC presented the Calvert County Rescue Dive Team with a plaque for their outstanding service to the citizens of Calvert County.
