457 people now have access to safe clean drinking water
Rotary Club of Prince Frederick, MD and Rotary Club of La Paz, Honduras partnered to support Honduras Compassion Partners and help bring clean drinking water to families in La Paz, Honduras.
The two clubs awarded a $5,000 grant to Honduras Compassion Partners to purchase and install water filtration systems in hundreds of homes throughout the impoverished city of La Paz.
457 people living in the city now have access to safe, clean drinking water. The majority of them are women and children.
“The water that Honduran families use to bathe, cook, and clean with, often comes from the same unsanitary source,” says Jeremy Robinson, U.S. president of Honduras Compassion Partners. “Installing water filters in a home gets directly to the root cause of many health and sanitary issues, transforming a family’s life for generations.”
“In La Paz, Honduras, city water is only available every 8 to 10 days and is contaminated with e-coli and coliform bacteria,” says Rotarian in Honduras Jonathan Zelaya “The water filters that are provided by Honduras Compassion Partners filters and eliminates harmful bacteria.”
The Rotatory Club International’s motto is “Service Above Self.” That is what the Rotary Clubs from Prince Frederick, MD and La Paz, Honduras are doing. Zelaya, of the Rotary Club of La Paz, managed the project and 17 members of the club helped with the installation.
