The Rotary Club of Prince Frederick has retired its food trailer which has been a fixture at civic events throughout Calvert County for many years. The current version of the Rotary food trailer has been in use nearly twenty years, and was at least the third iteration over the past forty years the club has provided food at local events.
“We have used the trailer to raise money for local scholarship support,” commented Rich Fleming, Rotary Club President. “We have estimated that over those forty years, our club gave over $150,000 in scholarship support to over 100 Calvert County Public Schools high school seniors,” Fleming added.
As the Rotary Club transitions to other fund-raising activities, Fleming wanted to thank the many event venues, the thousands of customers, and the many Rotary volunteers who supported this endeavor. Fleming mentioned that the Rotary trailer has been a fixture at the Calvert County Fair, Annmarie Gardens (several events), Celtic Festival, Children’s Day on the Farm, and PRAD, among other venues. Without the support of these events, said Fleming, the Rotary scholarships would have been impossible.
The Rotary Club of Prince Frederick is part of Rotary International, which currently has over 1.2 million members worldwide. The Prince Frederick club meets the second and fourth Monday evenings at Stoney’s of Prince Frederick. For more information, contact Rich Fleming at richshowlow@aol.com.
