Senator Steve Waugh, Calvert & St Mary’s Counties, is pleased to announce that for the fourth consecutive year, he has received a score of 100% from the Maryland Business for Responsive Government (MBRG), indicating that he is one of Maryland’s top pro-small business legislators. In fact, he is one of only two Senators who have a 100% pro-business record for their four years in the Senate.
Each year, MBRG, a statewide, nonpartisan business advocacy organization, selects recorded votes from the most recent General Assembly session that are essential to create/retain jobs and promote a healthy business climate throughout Maryland. MBRG identifies the selected bills in Roll Call and analyzes the votes to produce a score for each legislator.
MBRG urges Maryland’s elected and appointed officials to strive for a balanced public policy approach that includes the consideration of the impact of new laws and regulations on the state’s business climate.
A “business friendly” public policy would have significant, measurable, and positive impact on all citizens in the state. In response to receiving the perfect rating, Senator Waugh stated “Governor Hogan said, ‘Maryland is Open for Business’ and I am proud to fight alongside him to make it happen. Jobs are the issue – to create jobs here, we have to do business here.”
