On June 19th, 2015 at the North Beach Boys and Girls Club, the Twin Beach Players presented their newest play Sherlock Holmes and the Most Amazing Case. The opening show had a full house—jam-packed with support from the community, families and people of all ages!
Rachel Cruz directed this original script by Matt Konerth, a Twin Beach Players Kid’s Playwriting Festival alumni, focuses on the greatest treasure in England having been stolen. Mr. Konerth’s first plays performed were at the 4th, 5th, and 6th Twin Beach Players Kid’s Playwriting Festivals, and he has been unstoppable ever since. Matthew studied playwriting at Mary Washington University. With the help and guidance of the great director Sid Curl, Konerth’s art has been performed several times all over town, and he now works professionally in Baltimore, MD!
In this special play by Konerth, Sherlock Holmes and John Watson, hired by their former arch nemesis Professor Moriarty, are tasked to recover the treasure in this madcap comedy. Holmes and Watson will have to navigate between Russian spies, government conspiracies, deadly poisons, Sherlock’s femme fatale girlfriend Irene Adler, and the French in order to succeed in this amazing case!
Sherlock Holmes was a fantastic play with an even better cast. Cameron Walker who starred as “Sherlock Holmes” has been with Twin Beach Players since 2012. Cameron said, “It was an honor to get the lead. I’ve always been a big Sherlock Holmes fan and it’s an awesome opportunity to play him!” Mr. Walker had a phenomenal performance and plans on continuing his acting career.
Olivia McClung who played the role of “Dr. John Watson” is excited to be in her fifth show with the Twin Beach Players. Oliva said, “To play the partner of Sherlock was awesome and an honor. I learned a lot from this experience, and I’ve made so many new friends!” Olivia charmed the audience all throughout the play and also had a wonderful performance.
The play could not go on without the sound and tech help from Mehran Rastakhiz Jr. and Caleb Petersen, great jobs guys!
